Kim Bookless, Writer/Editor

I am a full-time freelance writer and editor based in Chicago.

I graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Ohio University. Working for several years at the educational publishing division of The McGraw-Hill Companies gave me valuable experience in marketing and corporate communication.

I launched my full-time freelance writing and editing business in 2011, and I am a regular contributor to PRC’s monthly magazine Preservation in Print. I write and edit a variety of materials, including books and eBooks, web content, blog posts, magazine articles, white papers, and case studies. Clients include Orbit Media Studios, a Chicago-based creative agency, and A Different Direction LLC, a marketing and communications company in Columbus, Ohio.

I have worked with Kim on several projects over the last two years. I have relied on her for proofreading/editing and original writing. She is a strong writer with a fresh voice. She has provided excellent service with good attention to detail. I can trust that Kim will listen and provide exactly what is asked for. She is very easy to work with and communicates well at every stage of a project. I definitely plan to continue to work with Kim on projects in the future.

I highly recommend Kim Bookless for her freelance writing, based particularly on the quality of the articles she has contributed to our monthly magazine Preservation In Print. Ms. Bookless is thorough in her research and creative in her approach, in both concept and subject matter, and her writing skills are of the highest quality. We have been very impressed with her ideas and development of articles for our publication.

As Grants Administrator for the Midwest Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kim was a delightful and invaluable part of our team. She was personable and thorough in the detailed work of grants administration, and she has excellent writing skills. She prepared reports to donors and wrote several articles for our regional newsletter that were both interesting and informative. What a gem!
